Since receiving her B. F.A. in Music -Theatre from Carnegie Mellon University, Richel Kompst has enjoyed a career that has taken her around the world.
Ms. Kompst played the Factory Girl, understudying Cossette in Les Miserables.(2nd National Tour) In San Francisco, she was seen on stage at the Great American Music Hall, The Plush Room, in Beach Blanket Babylon and in her critically acclaimed portrayal of Rose in Song of Singapore.In LA, Richel enjoyed successful runs of All That He Was, The Gay 90's Musical, Forbidden Broadwayand Forbidden Hollywood.
Upon moving to Las Vegas, Richel joined her Forbidden friends for a 7 month engagement of Forbidden Vegas. As producer and co-owner of SoulSings Productions, Richel has produced two CDs, Concerts for Non-Profit organizations and her Solo Show Blame it on the Walleye…A Musical Journey Through the Neurotic Mind of a Norwegian Blonde. In 2011, Richel joined the cast of Menopause the Musical performing all four characters on the Las Vegas Strip for 5 years. 2 favorite LV roles to date have been the “Carol Burnett” role in Putting it Together at the Smith Center and Sarah in Company in Concert at the LVH. Richel is ecstatic to be returning to the Menopause the Musical Family to cover her brilliant castmates in this production!
Richel's approach to vocal instruction combines the artistry of performance with a deep understanding of body resonance and voice relaxation. Her unique methodology emphasizes breath work, full body stretching and vocal soundings as a foundation for nurturing each student's individuality and artistic expression.
Richel's background as a classically trained music theatre vocalist from Carnegie-Mellon University followed by a 35 year professional Singing/acting career, combined with her extensive knowledge of musical genres, allows Richel to guide students through an array of vocal styles, from musical theater to pop, country and jazz.
Her versatility enables her to cater to the unique needs and aspirations of each student, helping them find their own authentic voice. Beyond technical expertise, Richel connects with her students on a personal level, creating a supportive and inspiring learning environment. Her nurturing and encouraging nature empowers her students to overcome challenges, build confidence, and explore the depths of their vocal abilities.
